Focus: Positioning community and civic engagement leadership as evidence of executive capacity.
 
Objectives:

  • Identify the leadership competencies embedded in civic and community engagement work.
  • Translate programmatic impact into strategic leadership language.
  • Build leadership narratives that align with institutional priorities.

Key Topics:

  • Mapping your experience to executive competencies (e.g., strategy, external relations, resource development).
  • Telling the “mission story” effectively in cover letters and interviews.
  • Framing civic and democracy initiatives as institutional leadership, not programmatic side work.
  • Examples of successful candidate positioning from Campus Compact–aligned leaders.
