Azuri is a community engagement professional of 17 years and a doctoral candidate at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). She is the co-editor of the Community Engagement and Higher Impact Practices book (2018), a recent contributor in the Democracy, Civic Engagement, and Citizenship in Higher Education: Reclaiming Our Civic Purpose (Flores & Rogers, 2019), and is a member of the Metropolitan Universities Journal Editorial Board. Gonzalez teaches community engagement courses in the Women's Studies Program and the Political Science department at UTEP.
