Description
Faculty rewards continue to be a challenge in the institutionalization of community engagement in higher education, and yet it remains an area for innovation worth pursuing. The formation of tenure and promotion policies followed by purposeful operationalization for adoption in diverse disciplines remains key. Through this session, participants will be presented with a number of development and implementation strategies for faculty tenure and promotion support. Participants will also learn the preliminary results of a study on faculty attitudes about community-engaged scholarship in an effort to further inform the manner in which institutions approach supporting faculty in community-engaged scholarship endeavors.
Learning outcomes:
- Strategies for the institutionalization and operationalization of tenure and promotion policies for faculty
- An inside look into faculty attitudes and perspectives on community-engaged scholarship in the context of an engaged institution
