Name
Rewarding Public-Facing Scholars and their Scholarship: Epistemic Equity as a Lens for Policy Change
Date & Time
Monday, March 30, 2020, 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
John Saltmarsh Marisol Morales
Description

Our goal is to explore commonalities and differences of research findings from studies on promotion and tenure policy as a way of exploring what a broader alliance of efforts toward revising faculty rewards might look like and the influence it could have on community-engaged scholarship as well as other forms of public scholarship. We are framing this as a panel discussion of research on community-engaged scholarship, public scholarship, and emerging forms of scholarship such as digital scholarship and interdisciplinary scholarship that have a public-facing, social justice orientation, recognizing that many of the scholars who produce public-facing scholarship are from social groups that have been historically underrepresented and marginalized in American higher education.
