Register now

Registration is now open for the 2020 meeting of The Research University Civic Engagement Network (TRUCEN), hosted by the Center for Service Learning at the University of Kansas (KU).

The conference (both meeting rooms and accommodations) will be held at the Oread Hotel in Lawrence.  The Oread boasts 360 degree views as the highest point in Kansas. KU has graciously negotiated a discounted reservation rate of $125/night if reservations are made prior to January 26th.

The Kansas City International Airport is the closest airport to Lawrence and is 45 minutes away. Attendees can book a shuttle to or from the airport (e.g. Jayhawk Taxi, Super Shuttle, Five Guys Shuttle, Carmel Shuttle) or rent a car.

Specific details on conference sessions and activities will be forthcoming, but we are opening registration now to ensure that member institutions are able to make travel plans and book hotel accommodations well in advance.

About our host

This year’s host, KU, is the state’s flagship located in Lawrence, Kansas. As an institution, KU’s legacy is bound to the ideals of freedom and justice. The Jayhawk, KU’s mascot, was born out of terminology used during the Civil War. Jayhawkers were those who fought for freedom and against slavery, and this sentiment has continued on through the adoption of a fictional Jayhawk as our mascot. The culture of democracy and justice runs deep through our research and community-engaged endeavors.
