Description

Staff from the University of Michigan’s Ginsberg Center for Community Service Learning and Rackham Graduate School will offer examples of how they have collaborated to support graduate students’ interest in community-engaged learning with opportunities to apply their skills while providing tangible positive outcomes for community partners. We offer concrete examples from a number of long-standing and more recent initiatives, and offer key takeaways for participants to apply to their home institutions. Participants will be given ample opportunity to connect with each other, consider which structures and strategies could work on their own campuses, and share their own successes and challenges.

|Learning outcomes:

  • Explore multiple avenues to leverage graduate students’ strengths to effectively support community partner priorities
  • Explore ways to structure programming for graduate students to center equity and justice in community-engaged learning
