The next Pathways of Public Service and Civic Engagement Working Group retreat will be held June 28-29, 2023, at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The goals of the retreat are to build connections among Working Group members, share promising practices, explore new ways to use the Pathways, and deepen the research potential of the Pathways framework and survey. The retreat will allow us to do more intentional, focused work as a group than we can accomplish during our regular Zoom meetings, in addition to enabling informal dialogues and discussion.

Cost: $150 per person

Agenda

A detailed agenda will be determined closer to the event date. We anticipate starting at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, and ending at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 29.

PARKING

Paid parking is available at the Sorensen Center for $1/hour with a daily max of $10

AIRPORTS

The largest airport in the area is the Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC), and is approximately 45 miles north of UVU's campus. Twelve airlines and their affiliates serve SLC: AeroMexico, Alaska Airlines, American, Delta Air Lines, Eurowings Discover, Frontier, JetBlue, KLM, SkyWest, Spirit, Southwest and United. SLC is a major hub for Delta Air Lines with about 70 percent of total traffic, so sometimes flights on that carrier are cheaper.

Provo Municipal Airport (PVU) is Utah's second busiest airport, and is approximately 9 miles south of UVU's campus. Commercial service is provided through Breeze Airways and Allegiant Air.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

Public transportation from the airport is run by the Utah Transit Authority (UTA). TRAX is UTA’s light rail system and FrontRunner is UTA’s commuter rail system. TRAX operates seven days per week, with 15-minute frequency during peak time and FrontRunner operates Monday through Saturday, with 30-minute weekday service during peak travel times, and 60-minute service during non-peak travel hours and Saturdays.

To get to Orem from SLC, take the Trax Green Line (West Valley) to North Temple Bridge/Guadalupe station. Transfer to Frontrunner (Provo) to the Orem station. This one-way trip costs $8 (how to pay your fare). Bus lines are available at the FrontRunner station (plan your trip) or you can use a rideshare app to get to your final destination. Accessibility information can be found here: https://www.rideuta.com/RiderInfo/Accessibility/Accessible-UTA

PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION

There is no public transportation from PVU. A number of shuttle/ground transportation options are available at SLC. Rental cars and rideshare apps are also available
