About this event

In Spring 2025, The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the American Council on Education (ACE) introduced a new way to recognize institutions committed to student success. Through the Student Access and Earnings Classification, nearly 500 colleges and universities have been acknowledged for their work in providing access to education and strong economic outcomes for students.  As ACE states,

“By design, the Student Access and Earnings Classification identifies the extent to which institutions provide access to students from lower socioeconomic and historically underrepresented racial/ethnic backgrounds along with the degree to which the institution’s students go on to earn competitive wages in the context of their geographic location.”

Community engagement has long been on the forefront of supporting institutional strategies and outcomes in advancing cradle-to-career pathways and partnerships for student success.  During this webinar we’ll hear from ACE leaders and experts who created the classification and what they are seeing already in terms of its utility and impact.  We’ll then hear from two Compact members who have been designated as Opportunity Colleges & Universities and how their work in civic and community engagement advances their institution’s leadership in student access and earnings.

This webinar is presented as part of the Informing Practice & Storytelling webinar series, which examines  the latest data and research in civic and community engagement. Webinars in the series highlight research and data that inform and illustrate the ways rich civic and community engagement contributes to student success and community flourishing. Sessions will highlight cutting-edge research-based practice and evidence that connects to the value of civic and community engagement work. Join to find powerful data that will inform your work and strategies, help you tell the story, and demonstrate the impact of active and effective civic and community engagement.
