Building relationships with mentors is vital to the Newman Civic Fellowship experience and offers our Fellows regular opportunities to experience connection, creativity, and professional care. Many fellows often remark that connecting with their mentor is their favorite part of their experience. We ask each mentor to connect with their Newman Civic Fellow quarterly (four times from August through May), and mentors are given a handy mentor resource guide to lead those check-ins.
The mentor's role is to:
- Help your campus fellow reflect on their fellowship experience and their broader personal, professional, and civic development
- Connect your campus fellow to relevant resources
- Participate in a virtual mentor orientation with Campus Compact during the summer before the fellowship year
- Communicate with Campus Compact as needed.
On Friday, September 8th, from 12-1 EST, a Newman Civic Fellow Mentor support session will review these requirements and offer tips and tricks about the mentoring process. We can also answer any questions you may have about the program. If you're interested, please feel free to RSVP below. We look forward to working with you this year, and thanks again for serving as a Newman Civic Fellow Mentor!
