The presenters are chapter contributors for a new book, Democracy, Civic Engagement, and Citizenship in Higher Education: Reclaiming Our Civic Purpose. Each will summarize key lessons from their work as president or center directors on their campuses in changing the culture of their campus, broadening civic engagement and learning, and national efforts to expand campuses committed to Civic Engagement. The authors will present lessons from the book and key steps for creating a civically engaged campus. Participants will be encouraged to discuss how they can apply these lessons to their respective campuses.
Learning outcomes:
- Participants will better understand their work in the context of democracy and 21st-century citizenship.
- Participants will come away with key lessons that they might apply to their campuses
- Participants will better understand mechanisms to integrate civic engagement into the culture of their campus.
