Description
Since 2016, more than 300 colleges and universities have written democratic engagement action plans to increase political learning, democratic engagement, and voting rates among their students and within their campus communities. In this workshop, Students Learn Students Vote Coalition members will unveil an updated version of guidelines for writing an action plan, a new rubric for campuses to use to evaluate the quality of their plan, and a gamified version called “Votes & Ballots”. Participants will have the opportunity to test out the new rubric and discuss challenges faced during the action planning process.
Learning outcomes:
- Participants will be introduced to the second edition of the Strengthening American Democracy campus action planning guidelines and the new self-assessment rubric.
- Participants will practice using the self-assessment rubric and learn to identify strengths and weaknesses.
- Participants will become familiar with Votes & Ballots, a gamified version of the guidelines.
