Participants will learn about the Civic Profile, an innovative online self-assessment of one's civic knowledge, values, and engagement. The tool provides individuals and cohorts the opportunity to reflect (in a non-judgmental way) on the question, "what kind of citizen am I?" and see how they compare with other Americans and/or a composite of their cohort. The objective of this session is to share a new (free!) online instrument with attendees, describe the research conducted in its creation and validation, and encourage use of the tool in classrooms and cohorts. Participants will leave with a tool that encourages active reflection on what we know, what we value, and how we behave as citizens of a self-governing society.
