Romy Hübler is Director of the Office of Civic Engagement and Social Responsibility at Towson University (TU). She leads her team in developing TU students’ disposition, skills, and knowledge to be active co-creators of a shared future. Romy’s work also contributes to pedagogical innovations at TU and nationally, including civic learning and democratic engagement, community-based learning and teaching, dialogue, high-impact practices, and restorative practices. Her publications have focused on the development of students as civic agents, civic discourse, and institutional change. Romy is a peer reviewer of the eJournal of Public Affairs and an AASCU’s American Democracy Project (ADP) Civic Fellow. Romy serves as the institutional representative for ADP, Campus Compact, Imagining America, Transform Mid-Atlantic, and the Place-Based Justice Network. Romy received the 2022 ADP Spirit of Democracy Award and earned her Ph.D. in Language, Literacy and Culture, M.A. in Intercultural Communication, and B.A. in Modern Languages and Linguistics from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
