Recognizing Georgia Tech’s unique research mission and place-based connection to Atlanta as a case-study, our workshop introduces community organizing principles as a strategy to coordinate anchored, collaborative, and convening community engagement. This interactive session, using Georgia Tech as a case study, highlights community organizing practices like understanding historical dynamics, identifying commonalities, building an inclusive network of collaborators, letting the group self-determine the goals and direction, and aligning with other community goals and initiatives. Workshop activities will include small group discussions and network mapping to guide participants to reflect on how to apply these same concepts to their own community-campus initiatives
