Description

Affordable housing is a major challenge in society, but it is particularly acute for students who live in metropolitan areas, where rental prices continue to increase. In this session, we will detail how a city-university partnership (aimed at making one university more accessible to cities across the state) led to an in-depth study of affordable housing for student populations and results already achieved from the study. The partnership brought together the university, the city, a nonprofit, and private sector partners. The presentation will detail the process of building partnerships and will extrapolate lessons learned for other campuses interested in pursuing action to alleviate rising rents for off-campus students.
