Taniguchi's research focuses on the role of creativity and reflection, Specifically, the impact creative and reflective mindsets and practice have on self-discovery, self-view, and fulfillment among adolescents and young adults who struggle with mental health issues. Most of her research was born out of the needs expressed by stakeholders in the medical communities who invited her to join in their search for new practices. In addition, Taniguchi is a poet and an installation artist.
