Dr. Douglas Barrera is the Associate Director for Faculty and Community Engagement with the UCLA Center for Community Engagement. He has worked in the higher education community engagement field for over 20 years. He has published on student development through community-engaged learning, the interdependence of higher education and local communities, and models of critical community engagement. He teaches courses for the Community Engagement & Social Change minor, directs multiple programs for faculty and students, is the lead administrator for UCLA’s Collaboratory site, and facilitates the Center’s Community Partners Council.
