Description

In this workshop, administrators, community partners, and advocates will think critically about institutional barriers and solutions to leveraging SLCE opportunities as mechanisms of social mobility among diverse, low-income, and first-generation college students. How can we increase the presence of formal pathways and supports prioritizing these students in SLCE? What barriers need to be overcome at our institutions both collectively and individually? What methods can be leveraged for students on their path to social mobility and civic engagement? Through the lens of a large public and small private university, presenters will share what has and has not worked and lead participants in discussion around potential action at various institutional levels. Participants will leave with next steps and a network of allies.
