Description

Systems thinking has become an essential element of Engaged Scholarship practice at Swarthmore College. We view systems thinking as crucial for addressing systemic inequities and wicked societal problems. Living into this vision, Swarthmore’s Lang Center for Civic and Social Responsibility prepares students for social impact projects, infusing systems thinking into both curricular and co-curricular training. During this session, the speakers will describe how various systems thinking competencies—gap analysis, deep structure identification, causal loop diagrams, and more—have been integrated into workshops and coursework. We hope participants will share how they prepare students and, together, that we all will leave the session with new ideas.
