Clarissa Unger, Students Learn Students Vote Coalition
Within the last year, dozens of states introduced—and in some cases passed—legislation limiting diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs and initiatives at colleges and universities. This unfortunate trend is likely to continue. We invite community engagement professionals at all career levels to join this discussion on how we can continue to center anti-racism in our civic engagement work when diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts are under attack. While we don’t have all the answers, we hope this session will create space to help each other better understand the challenges in certain states, brainstorm ways to continue working toward a more equitable democracy, and shed light on the way forward for civic and community engagement under these legal constraints.
