About this event

Campus Compact and New America’s Political Reform Program are working together to support civic innovation at community colleges. As part of this initiative, we’re developing a civic assembly pilot program and will host this Q&A session for prospective partners.

Civic assemblies help leaders find solutions to public problems by bringing together a representative sample of a population. These delegates act like a jury, collaborating with experts and officials and creating recommendations. Often, assemblies are hosted by governments. However, they can offer a powerful platform for any institution that wants to include their stakeholders in a decision-making process – including community colleges. As campuses strive to manage resources and meet student needs, citizens’ assemblies could be a useful tool for collecting opinions, creating buy-in, and developing effective policies that work well for the entire community.

Together, Campus Compact and New America will partner with community colleges to identify a topic for an assembly, design the engagement process, carry out the event, and offer guidance for the administration’s next steps.

If you are an administrator or faculty member and are interested in learning more about this program and the real-world impact of citizens’ assemblies, please join us!
