Join us for a 90-minute virtual design thinking-infused conversation around Dr. Castel Sweet’s recent publication, “Alignment of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging with Community and Civic Engagement Functions in Higher Education: Drivers, Approaches, and the Experiences.”

After a 15-minute presentation on her findings and potential implications for the field and our work, attendees will be invited to participate in a discussion based on the following questions:

  1. What does integration look like that is respectful of the uniqueness of each component?
  2. Who do you bring into the conversation on your campus (units, roles, positions)?

Participants will then be asked to use design thinking to consider how we might align the functional areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion and civic and community engagement on our campuses to fulfill higher education’s public purposes. Registrants should come prepared to be active participants.

Who should attend?

This event is free and open to members and non-members. Community-engaged faculty, staff, and practitioners and equity and diversity officers at higher education institutions are encouraged to join as teams.
