Rose Pasquarello Beauchamp — dancer, educator, and activist — is Professor of Dance at the University of Rochester and the Artistic Director of electricGrit dance. A Certified Movement Analyst, her work is deeply rooted in somatics and body awareness. Her artistic research centers on collaboration across disciplines, somatics and social justice, dance as a change agent, and the embodiment of activism.
For over twenty years, her choreographic work—integrating dance, theater, design, and media—has been featured internationally through electricGrit dance, inFluxdance, and SirensProof Films. She has been selected for multiple residencies and projects, including the NYS Dance Force Western NY Choreographers’ Initiative and the Jacob’s Pillow Choreographers Lab. Her work has toured to festivals such as the Rochester International Fringe Festival, Richmond Contemporary Dance Festival, Southern Vermont Dance Festival, and Detroit’s Assemble Festival, among others.
Rose co-founded Artists Coalition for Change Together (ACCT), active from 2016–2020, as a way to engage dancer-citizens in Rochester and beyond. She has received multiple grants from the University of Rochester’s Center for Community Engagement and serves as a Faculty Fellow supporting creative work in community-engaged settings. Her recent projects focus on reconnecting to invisible histories through site-specific work, Remnants, and engaging climate change initiatives through embodied practice and eco-somatics with Echolab. She continues to perform and present her creative research internationally with a focus on the relationship between the body and the environment and the role the body plays in environmental justice, climate change and beyond.
