Name
Working with Incarcerated and Decarcerated Students
Description
This CoP is a space for discussing higher ed responses to mass incarceration and its collateral damage. We will share experiences with teaching incarcerated and decarcerated students, creating carceral studies curricula, and supporting prison-to-school pipelines. Topics will also include restorative and transformative justice and abolitionist pedagogical frameworks. Participants will have opportunities to reflect on the meaning and challenges of this work, as well as explore collaborations for future pedagogical and research projects.
