Description

This presentation explores preliminary findings from an innovative program that combines asynchronous digital learning with participatory theater and restorative practice to create more robust cross-campus dialogue and reflection about principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly in the context of social disruption and student activism. Launched in August, 2021, as a collaboration between a liberal arts college in Maine and a US-based global learning nonprofit, the program includes over 1,000 students and offers a series of live sessions and asynchronous online modules that extend throughout the academic year. Presenters provide an overview of the program structure, content, and rationale, describe its integration with civic engagement and global learning, and share preliminary findings from ongoing research assessing its efficacy.
