Description

The West Philadelphia Promise Neighborhood, a place-based initiative at Drexel University, is co-creating with university staff, community leaders, and educators a series of civic engagement trainings for community members. The goals of the civic engagement trainings are to educate participants in issues that impact their children’s education and community, provide resources and connections to organizations advocating for children and community, and providing tools for advocating on behalf of themselves, their families, and their community. In this roundtable discussion, we will present the curriculum development, recruitment, and first round of implementation. Participants will review successes and challenges to the program launch and provide feedback on ways to improve the program while discussing strategies for university and community civic engagement education.

|Learning outcomes:

  • Review curriculum for community-based civic engagement trainings
