As we continue to address the challenges spotlighted by the pandemic, and continue to reevaluate our response to the racial reckoning in our communities that emerged after George Floyd’s murder, we need to reimagine how we educate and support faculty in designing and implementing community-engaged courses so that they are even more deeply grounded in a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. The Center for the Common Good at the University of St. Thomas would like to share our latest plan for our signature faculty development program, the Community Engagement Institute, and invite conversation to explore how we all might best prepare faculty, in collaboration with students and community partners, to design and implement inspired, anti-racist community-engaged courses.

• Learn from others who participate in educating faculty on community-engaged course design and implementation
• Explore how to center diversity, equity and inclusion and a commitment to anti-racism in community-engaged learning
• Bring back to campus new ideas for educating faculty on community-engaged best practices amidst a pandemic and other existential threats.
