Sayil Camacho (Ph.D., University of California, Los Angeles) is a Scholars Strategy Network Postdoctoral Fellow at Vanderbilt University Peabody College of Education and Human Development. Sayil explores the intersections of workplace experiences, campus climate, and immigrant populations. Her published article in The Journal of Higher Education was the first study to explore the unionization phenomena of the postdoctoral workforce, and the findings were framed within the broader contexts of globalization, institutional power dynamics, and racial and social hierarchies. Sayil Co-founded the first student-led campus climate intervention program at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA)—Bruin Excellence and Student Transformation grant program and is the recipient of the 2017 UCLA Equity, Diversity and Inclusion award and the 2018 40 for 40 Fellowship Association for Public Policy Analysis & Management award.
