Description
What would it look like for an entire public research university to collaborate with an entire city? What does that mean, and what does that look like in implementation? UMass Boston and the City of Boston have been trying to figure out the answer to these questions since 2017. In this session, we will talk about this ambitious agenda, including why it is important to both of our institutions, our strategy for addressing these questions, and a specific case example of the kinds of collaborations we hope to produce. We’ll highlight elements of our work that have been imperative to producing outcomes that are mutually beneficial for all stakeholders, and we’ll provide a forum for discussion of these elements.
Learning outcomes:
- In this session, participants will learn:
- What the key elements to producing a mutually meaningful, beneficial city-university collaboration are for UMass Boston and the City of Boston
- What these elements looked like in practice
- How to apply learnings from the UMass Boston/City of Boston experience in their own city-university context
