The 26th Amendment was designed to bring young people into the political process. Yet few people know of the promises it holds for inclusive democracy. Participants will explore the potential of the 26th Amendment for expanding student voting through the lens of The Andrew Goodman Foundation’s work. This session will focus on the impact of AGF’s youth-centered organizing, advocacy, and litigation efforts in Florida which led to 12 on-campus early polling sites for the 2018 Midterm elections. Through the sharing of research reports, field experience, and discussion participants will leave with an understanding of the barriers to securing on-campus polling sites, the impact of on-campus polling sites on young voters, and practical strategies for bringing polling sites to your campus.
