Date & Time
Wednesday, April 1, 2020, 9:45 AM - 10:45 AM
Description
Campus and organization partners of the National Resource Consortium on Full Student Voter Participation will present participants with an overview of student voting trends and voter registration requirements around the country along with case studies from campuses that have integrated voter registration into new student programs and services. Significant time will be reserved for questions and to discuss potential barriers around attempting similar programs at participants' campuses. Current information after interviewing 19 campuses can be found in the National Resource Consortium's Insight Brief at https://www.studentvoting.org/, and will be updated with new findings from additional campuses' efforts to integrate voter registration into programs such as orientation, move-in, and first-year experience during the fall 2019 semester.

Learning outcomes:
  • Participants will identify potential psychological and statutory barriers to student voter registration
  • Participants will understand benefits and challenges of integrating voter registration into orientation and other new student programs and services
  • Participants will evaluate the feasibility of integrating voter registration into an existing campus program at their institution
