Description
This session highlights an innovative leadership education program at a public research university that combines reflection, mentorship and the creation of a leadership e-portfolio that gives voice to students’ core values, motivations, leadership philosophies, leadership learning through on and off campus experiences, and future vision in their communities. Increasing access to leadership education opportunities and deconstructing the traditional, narrow and exclusive notions of leadership were central aims in this capstone program’s creation.
Attendees will learn about the program’s history, objectives, structure and lessons learned and will hear directly from several student participants who will share reflections focused on their community engagement experiences. Attendees will also practice key reflection activities used to help students reflect upon and articulate their leadership learning.
