Are you interested in reaching students that have been traditionally set outside of the traditional pathways to civic leadership? This workshop will guide the participants through a program discussion and collective art-making to gain more insight into the power of participation and voice in the arts. The session facilitators will share lessons learned and discuss outcomes that resulted from the pilot year of the Arts as Civic Engagement (ACE) Program. Outcomes included ACE residents’ deepened self-awareness, clarified career goals, awareness of pathways for becoming creative organizers. The arts organizations gained new perspectives on how to engage their community members and patrons in deeper ways, and community members learned how the arts could enrich and empower their lives.
