Description

How we design adult learning experiences directly impacts learning community engagement. This session introduces the EMP (Emerging-Mentee-Peer) Model to consider modern adult learners and move away from traditional andragogy. Built upon the EMP model research, the 4Cs framework acts as a tool for creating inclusive educational spaces to increase co-learning, creation-centered learning, critical critique skills, and career connections to foster engaged citizenship. Participants will learn to recognize adult learner variability and consider how to design and facilitate to align with these elements. By moving toward consideration of modern adult learners, educators can practice the compassion, action, and unity essential for civility. This awareness unites educators whose inclusive practices ripple through our higher education landscapes and democracies.
