Instructors often value community engagement but lack the capacity for full course redesign. The STEM CARES framework offers scalable infrastructure—adaptable learning outcomes, plug-in assignments, reflection, and assessment—to embed youth-centered outreach into STEM courses with minimal redesign. Students design age-appropriate, engaging science activities guided by the 5E instructional model. They learn about the community partner and the youth it serves, then tailor their outreach activity accordingly. Faculty benefit from a ready-to-implement model that strengthens service-learning without requiring extensive preparation. This session will highlight practical examples, walk through the framework, and invite participants to imagine applications in their own courses, providing replicable infrastructure to expand authentic engagement across disciplines.
