Sowing Seeds of Peace emerged from the barriers to community care in harm reduction, which perpetuates dangerous consequences in substance use and violence prevention spaces. Environmental degradation, like genocide and ecocide we see Indigenous peoples facing today in Gaza, has long-tern impacts on cultural community healing. Planting workshops for different age groups aim to establish a relationship with the Earth and to combat the erasure of Indigenous perspectives, contributing to land-based healing. Community programs like gardening are necessary to provide a safe space centered around care rather than stigma. The workshop will explore themes of cultural resiliency, connection to place, and mutual aid through fostered discussion while completing a hands-on activity to nurture both ourselves and the Earth.
