Why does community and civic engagement matter? To whom does it matter? What do they need to know about it? Purpose drives impact in storytelling. Participants in this workshop will review storytelling principles and resources; analyze a sample story's potential purpose, audiences, elements and framing; practice and reflect on a story of their own with colleagues; and brainstorm assets they might mobilize for storytelling. It's easy to be so focused on doing work that we don't take time to communicate about it. In this era of sharp conflict and hostile public discourse, it's important to tell positive stories of people working together. Join this session to focus on that skill - and to share and hear inspiring stories!
