Description

Discover how service-based scholarships transform student success while strengthening community partnerships. This session introduces a flexible, proven model that links financial aid to meaningful community engagement—promoting access to education for students with financial need while providing opportunity for sustained community engagement. Learn the essential components of the model: multi-year, cohort-based, funding tied to financial aid awards, developmental curricula and engagement. We'll share 30+ years of lessons from the Bonner Program and Network which demonstrate how service-based scholarships improve retention rates, develop civic leaders, and create reciprocal campus-community partnerships. The Bonner Foundation is in the early stages of developing a national network of institutions dedicated to transforming their approach to financial aid and community engagement. We hope you can join us to learn more about how your campus can join this effort.
