At UC San Diego, the California College Corps program advances civic engagement, belonging, and equity through paid community service addressing K-12 learning recovery, public health, food insecurity, and climate action. The program supports hundreds of low-income, first-generation, and transfer students as they build civic identity and purpose through meaningful community partnerships. This session highlights how UC San Diego adapted the statewide College Corps model to its local context, sharing lessons learned in partnership development, inclusive student support, and aligning service with community priorities. Presenters will discuss successes, challenges, and ongoing adaptations, offering strategies for designing equitable and sustainable civic learning initiatives that balance institutional goals, community needs, and the transformative potential of student service.
