Description

The work of higher education has become increasingly threatened in recent years given the dismantling of diversity and inclusion efforts, the erosion of tenure, and the perceived irrelevance of a college education. However, many of us are continuing to pursue equitable community-centered approaches to our higher education community-engaged work. This panel brings together the editors and authors of the new volume, Exploring Equitable Community-Campus Relationships, a co-publication of Campus Compact, Routledge, and AAC&U, and will examine ways that equitable, asset-based, and anti-racist engagement is prioritized at diverse institutions. This session will also discuss ways attendees can develop strategies for equitable community engagement at their institutions that uphold higher education's public purpose and model pathways for compassion in action.
