This workshop introduces SLS1401, a first-year student success course at Miami Dade College, reimagined through the lens of changemaking. Participants will explore how the course centers identity, purpose, and agency to empower students as emerging changemakers. The curriculum connects academic success with personal growth, career exploration, and civic engagement, guiding students to see college as a launchpad for meaningful impact. Through interactive activities and reflective assignments, SLS1401 fosters classroom belonging, confidence, and real-world relevance—especially for students navigating uncertainty. Workshop participants will gain insights into the course's four-unit structure, practical strategies for implementation, and evidence of how changemaking pedagogy supports equity and student success across diverse backgrounds.
