Description

Effective Family, School and Community Partnerships (FSCP) at the K12 level is grounded in the core belief that all parents have dreams for their children and have the capacity to support their learning. Further, parents and schools should be equal partners in that work and the responsibility for building partnerships rests primarily with school leaders. Research indicates that strong FSCP leads to higher academic achievement, socio-emotional competencies and prolonged academic engagement beyond K12. This session will explore how the core beliefs have shaped an innovative statewide approach and commitment to FSCP starting with teacher prep programs. Participants will identify challenges to this work within their context, as well as strategies to address those challenges. Diverse perspectives welcome, especially from parents!
