Description

This session highlights the Rural Placemaking Studio (RPS) as a replicable model for authentic campus-community partnerships in rural settings. Through creative placemaking and asset-based community development, Indiana University faculty, students, and local leaders co-create projects that build small-town pride, strengthen belonging, and address complex challenges such as population decline and social isolation. Participants will learn how RPS integrates design, dialogue, and community care to fortify civic engagement and local resilience. The session offers practical tools—including asset-mapping templates and engagement prompts—and invites participants to consider how creative placemaking can advance equity and well-being in their own communities.
