Description

This session aims to share the unique theories and practices employed by ePluribus Stanford, Stanford's university-wide initiative uplifting constructive dialogue on campus. Now in its second year, ePluribus offers comprehensive programming including forums, grants, fellowships, awards, training, and practicums. What distinguishes ePluribus is its theoretical framework: rather than building a dialogue "movement" or "culture," it cultivates specific skills, values, and dispositions—curiosity, empathy, and openness. By approaching dialogue at the micro than macro level, ePluribus effectively engages students from across the entire ideological spectrum. Stanford leaders and students will share this micro approach, explain essential dialogue skills and values, demonstrate how ePluribus programming components work together, and offer strategies for creating inclusive dialogue spaces that reach students who need them most.
