Description

News coverage, censorial legislation, and political influence have put overwhelming pressure on higher education to stand up for free expression and academic freedom while mediating conflict and polarization. In response, PEN America's Campus Free Speech project is launching new educational resources to bolster free expression education on campus for students and professionals. In this session, attendees will learn about two new PEN America initiatives designed to anchor free expression education on campus—a documentary-style orientation module for incoming students and a training intensive for student affairs staff. Participants will leave with PEN America handouts and reference materials, as well as group-generated ideas for how they can integrate these resources on their campus.
