In these unprecedented times of increasing division, fostering productive civic dialogue is more important than ever. This roundtable will bring together students and faculty from Indiana University Bloomington to share effective approaches, strategies, and events that have successfully encouraged meaningful discussions on campus. Participants will explore the challenges of engaging in difficult conversations and the role of universities in supporting students as they navigate complex social and political issues. Through an open dialogue, we will discuss methods for facilitating conversations that promote understanding rather than division. Attendees will gain insight into best practices that have worked at IU and will have the opportunity to collaborate in smaller breakout groups to further discuss these approaches. This session is ideal for students, faculty, and practitioners seeking to develop or refine their approaches to civic dialogue in a polarized world.
