Description

Student leaders of service-learning activities are often in a position to shape their peers' community-engaged experiences more directly than their faculty or staff counterparts. How can we prepare students to model ethical community engagement and counter deficit perspectives through their leadership roles? This session will explore the practices and pedagogies that may develop students' critical consciousness and their capacity to understand, analyze, and address injustice. Attendees will be provided with resources and frameworks for use with their student leaders and be invited to share strategies for empowering student leaders with the knowledge and skills for ethical community engagement.
