Unified action is more important than ever, yet higher education is plagued with divisions and hierarchies of value between faculty and staff. Such tensions undermine our potential to fulfill our educational mission to support student development and learning in the service of engaged citizenship. Lack of cultural unity also hinders our ability to collectively address shared challenges within the campus, and to develop deep and sustainable community partnerships toward addressing societal challenges. How might we build bridges between faculty and staff by valuing diverse expertise across disciplines, professional, and lived experience? How might campuses intentionally create space for dialogue, understanding and connection? How might a shared value of epistemic justice transform a campus community and our vision for community engagement?
