Goucher College’s Office of Community-Based Learning is currently co-leading the formation of a University Retirement Community (URC) alongside the staff and residents of the Edenwald Senior Living retirement community. This session will discuss how best practices for reciprocal community engagement have informed our process of co-creating an initial 3-year strategic plan for this URC partnership. We will then share an overview of questions and concerns that have surfaced as we have engaged broader cross-sections of each community in the URC planning process. Finally, we will present the strategies that we have developed in response to community interests and concerns within several specific co-generational initiatives, including course auditing on the Goucher campus, new study abroad programs, and a community garden initiative.
