MIT’s Office of Sustainability, the Urban Risk Lab and the PKG Center for Public Service represent distinct functional areas of MIT’s ecosystem, but they all have a commitment to creating reciprocal, ethical, long-term community partnerships and a desire to support meaningful, experiential learning opportunities for students. This session explores the co-designed pilot project that brought all three together and leveraged their respective strengths and community partnerships. During the 4-week pilot winter break program, student cohorts worked collaboratively with MIT offices and city and community leaders on long-term shared challenges related to climate change. This session explores internal university partnerships within a decentralized university and gives participants an opportunity to consider potential university-wide partnerships at their own institutions.
